100 Resilient Cities – Pioneered by The Rockefeller Foundation (100RC) is an organization dedicated to helping cities better prepare for and quickly rebound from 21st century shocks and stresses. Over the next few years, 100 Resilient Cities will select and work with 100 member cities from around the globe for whom it plans to provide four kinds of value, to start: 1) Financial and other support for putting in place a new city resilience leader, a Chief Resilience Officer (CRO); 2) Support for development of a robust resilience strategy; 3) Management of a peer-to-peer network of member cities who can learn from and help each other; and 4) Connecting member cities to solutions, service providers, and other partners who can help them to implement their resilience strategies. 100RC seeks to increase awareness of the importance of resilience thinking, to catalyze a new community of urban resilience practitioners and spur the growth of a robust ecosystem of resilience-focused solutions and solution providers. 


100 Resilient Cities is looking for a Global Communications Associate.

Initial Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Vice President of Global Communications on research and special projects
  • Supporting member cities with their communications strategies and amplifying their work
  • Creating visually compelling presentations on 100RC’s work in member cities or on special organizational projects
  • Drafting and reviewing early versions of press releases and public remarks of the senior leadership team
  • Thoroughly edit and review all internal and external documents for consistency, accuracy, and clarity
  • Representing the Communications team across the organization and serving as a focal point for cross team collaboration and working groups
  • Support the planning and execution of external events and media events
  • Designing and continually improving internal communication processes
  • Working with print, televisions and digital media reporters from regional, national and international media to secure coverage of major city milestones
  • Occasionally update the 100 Resilient Cities communications strategy
  • Flagging and summarizing important articles in our field of interest
  • Conducting research in a wide variety of fields and compiling briefing materials for 100RC’s senior leadership team
  • Manage and supervise team interns

Minimum Qualifications

  • A BA/BS
  • Two-three years of demonstrated experience in communications

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Two year of demonstrated experience in communications
  • Two years of demonstrated experience in communications
  • Experience engaging with a variety of actors and organizations across sectors (public, private, non-profit). Experience working in low- and middle-income country contexts preferred.
  • Experience managing communications consultants working in a variety of time zones and locations.
  • Ability to work independently, drive progress, share vision, promote innovation, and thrive under ambiguous and dynamic conditions with collegiality and flexibility
  • Excellent writing and communications skills for multiple audiences, including internal and external audiences across various media
  • Ability to speak foreign languages preferred
