100 Resilient Cities – Pioneered by The Rockefeller Foundation (100RC) is a new organization dedicated to helping cities to be better prepared for and quickly rebound from 21st century shocks and stresses. 100 Resilient Cities has selected and is working with 100 member cities from around the globe for whom it provides four kinds of value, to start: 1) Financial and other support for putting in place a new city resilience leader, a Chief Resilience Officer; 2) Support for development of a robust resilience strategy; 3) Management of a peer-to-peer network of member cities who can learn from and help each other; and 4) Connecting member cities to curated solutions of services provided by Platform Partners who can help them to implement their resilience strategies. 100RC seeks to increase awareness of the importance of resilience thinking, to catalyze a new community of urban resilience practitioners and spur the growth of a robust ecosystem of resilience-focused solutions and solution providers.


100RC is looking for an Associate Designer to join our team and help us continue to support resilience-building work in cities around the world.  Ideal candidates have a strong background in digital design and publishing, including production of print and web-based content.

You’ll be part of 100RC’s Communications team, working closely with our Head of Digital Strategy to develop and execute campaigns across multiple digital channels. A key aspect of this role will be creative production and design for city Resilience Strategies and communication of complex and detailed plans through visually engaging and user-friendly collateral. You will also produce visual assets for 100RC digital properties, including social media graphics and website infographics, to help tell the story of our work digitally.

This is an ideal opportunity to work with a global team on work that is international in scope. Communicating resilience and the work that cities are doing is a critical part of our work and you will play a key role in shaping how we do it.

Initial Responsibilities include:

  • Creative production and visual design for 100RC member cities’ Resilience Strategies and 100RC reports and marketing collateral
  • Graphic design production for 100RC digital properties, including social media and website
  • Advise on visual design and creative direction to member cities, partners, and 100RC staff producing public communications materials from print to digital collateral
  • Managing 100RC’s visual asset database (finding and compiling photos for use)
  • Collaborate with external partners and consultants on digital projects, including website design and other integrated digital experiences
  • Helping grow and maintain 100RC’s digital channels and audiences using best practices and creative campaign ideas
  • Evangelizing and promoting digital channels throughout your work and 100RC
  • Generally assisting in the “movement-building” and “buzz-creating” aspect of 100 Resilient Cities’ work.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a BA/BS degree
  • A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in digital design, communications, content management, email programs/campaigns, and social media
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in graphic design for digital and traditional formats
  • Strong communications skills for multiple audiences, including internal and external audiences, across various digital channels
  • Ability to work independently, drive progress, share vision, promote innovation, and thrive under ambiguous and dynamic conditions with collegiality and flexibility
  • A thorough understanding of the technical aspects of web and digital communications
  • Full written and spoken proficiency of the English language mandatory. Ability to speak other foreign languages will be a strong asset.
  • Optional: Experience with Content Management Systems (HTML/CSS a plus)
